Wolf tracks are common along the river,
more so than inland
20 July Pete saw a brown one about 200 ft out from
this morning after 9 left for trophy. It left
when he just a shot in the gun.
22 July On a heavily willowed meander a mile or so
downstream we found many wolf tracks and heavily
traveled trails. This is probably the spot we saw the
black one from the plane.
28 July Pitmoya River, Cape Sabine, Alaska
Several tracks at end of bar were made
since we left on July 3.
20 Aug Glen Hardy shot a black one, probably the
one seen on July 3 across the river. It had
34 minutes and a piece of bear meat in stomach.
Apparently curiously brought it in gun range.
