Childs 1957 5. Long-tailed July Patuxent River, Cape Sabine, Alaska I had to discard, a piece of sediment near the tent. 2 dark shore parasitism were attracted to one other at the edge of the river 50' away. The long- tail gave a threat display, leaning on forward and calling a "chow" and flew directly at them. There was no doubt that he was the owner and the parasites were trespassing. They retreated from his aerial attacks but me stayed and was hit forcefully by the diving long-tail. The impact could be heard clearly. He went eventually and the parasites flew off downstream. He was then joined by another L.T. with no ammunity shown. Aug. 1 Young bird on lthoo again with both parents in attendance.
