Childs 1957 M. minrus 2. 21 July Pitnzgea River, ni SE Cape Sabine, Alaska B It was raining when I set the traps on a high side that was very "money" with well developed summery and lots of holes and partially efcavated peaty, areas there was little grass or sedge in this area. The willows and birch were well developed with lots of duff under- eath remement of chaparral on south slope of Strawberry Canyon. It seemed an excellent place for mine but Because of the rain I only got 2. We were camped on a flat sedge marsh area close to the river in an area where the river valley is quite narrow and expect water back up from ice jams. In this sedge marsh we saw many summery of recent origin and which run stream with cuttings 1-2" long of deep aquitils. This marsh was a more pocket, surrounded on all sides by shrubs (willow & birch) being 50X150' app. All around the periphery was a well-developed trail. It was along this trail side Felt leaf willar that we got most of the mine, including both species many
