28 May Wainwright, Alaska
Crawford is not buying any more as he is leaving and it is obvious now
that we would only get Fall killed
stuff that has been stored in
cellars. The vegetation appeared to
be heavily utilized. There was little
grass stems left and even the
willows were eaten bare of
leaves and bark was chewed
to one extent.
31 May Pitneyea River, Cape Sabine, Alaska
Mouse sign is considerably greater now
than at any time last year. This coupled with
the presence of predators, 2 species of Owl
and anti Fox foretells a good year.
2 June There are two such areas that show very
heavy utilization locally. This is particularly
so in the peat area in bird plot 2.
11 June Finally got two, both in T6-10.0. This
Trap site was under a small willow and
a running man along the edge of a polygon
cracks.
22 July Pitneyea River, 2mi SE Cape Sabine, Alaska
Got one in T12 in tusslebs!
