Childs 1958 Lemmus 3 23 may Wainwright, Alaska factor. From this evidence to date it is hard to believe that any significant numbers survived. Weather records for October and November should be examined and compared with past years for similar weather patterns. This type of catastrophe would hardly be part of the cyclic picture except to throw the periodicity out of phase. 25 may No sign of Lemmus seen in the most exposed area south of the Village on the ridge. Ice covers everything under the snow. I cannot believe that any numbers survived the winter. 28 May Snow still covers the marsh tray lines, but melting has proceeded considerably on higher polygon tops. I found one rotted Lemmus in a walk over there this morning. Yesterday The Eskimo boys brought in about 10 which they said they had caught alive but as they were nothing it was obviously not true so we did not buy them. 1.
