Childs 1955 Lemmings Aug.13 Point Barrow, Alaska In a lemming nest in the center of a small hummock a few feet from T6-2-3?9 found a humble bees nest. It contained 22 bees and we hatched in the lab. What would Monty do without us? There is no doubt that there is little or no "night" activity with the fall in light intensity and temperature. There was frost the last couple of nights. Live rodent trapping on the late run has been poor. In the run between T7 & T5 across the south end of central marsh I note a great similarity in habitat to that of the flats south of both area. Particularly is the area along the drainage in the marsh slot similar with the arctophila sedge band and sedge outside. Runways are abundant. Therefore large wind rows of winter mown grass along the drainage. This would be a good area for more study along with the high polygons south of these. I seem to recall we got Dicrostonyx there in '51.
