Found a ? under a oil drum.
July 6 See jumnd. Evidence of great concentrate
on the S side of the runway in area bulldozed
up & invaded by moss only. Greatest seat
concentrate I have ever seen. Depth of snow
there may have been an important factor in
concentrating them in one area.
July 8 Had tremendous luck in T2 - 7 animals. This line
parallels a marsh, lying on the east side of a low
ridge. Drainage is good. Polygon ridges are
not well developed. Grass is not abundant and
some willow in present. Trapped both species
at the same stake so there is some overlap
in the use of runways. I now believe the seats to
be much smaller than Lemmus and more core
shaped. Scattered pellets are difficult to see. A
careful search for them might reveal that
they are more scattered and less collected into
Scatoria (for Dicrostonyx) than Lemmus.
July 9 Score at 2000 38 Lemmus; 15 Dicrostonyx; 8 microtus.
The sub adults have been most abundant
in the later catches in T2. This is probably
due to their parents being caught at
about the time of independence and the
young being forced out to freeze for
themselves. One of the small 97
was pregnant, an almost observe
