Sorex arctictus
6 June Pitmege River, Cape Sabine, Alaska
Got it in Tz today. They seem more
brown and show a higher contrast to
the ones we got last summer.
22 June Got four in rootings after the rain last
night. All males. The slight additional
moisture with a rise in temperate
this a.m. possibly account for their
increased activity
30 June Caught 3 by hand on Plot 2. Heard
rustling in grass and saw one run into
ground cover. Caught it and then looked
closer and found 2 more — all males of
the year. A rudimentary nest was constructed
of lichen and moss. This was located in
dry sedge-willow wet meadow
22 July Pitmege River, Tz & Cape Sabine, Alaska
