REDPOLL Acanthis June 18 Point Barrow, Alaska One at S end of b.W at 1100 flying over. I took one near pipe line with beautiful wing shot at 1500 One sang on wire at end of R.I while writing SB at 1935. Several other reports by mine people June 25 A pair flew into storage area this evening. We are seeing individuals rather consistently. July 10 Uniat, 400 ft., Alaska This was the common bird here. You were out of the nest and I saw one & carrying a mouthful of willow patches "cotton", perhaps to start a second nest. I was not sure that only one species was seen. Once a pair seemed much larger, and a flight containing an melodious note was heard several times, July 15 Point Barrow, Alaska One flew over back plot. Aug 5 East Qumalik, 110 mi SSE Barrow, Alaska This was a common bird in the willow thickets, the only areas where it was found. The broods still appeared to remain together which may be an indication that there are the latest breeders in the area. On the 7th an albino juvenile was shot which was the youngest bird seen of any species.
