CHILDS 1951 Red-spotted Blue throat cyano sylvia suecica Aug 3 East Ounalik, 110 mi SSE Barrow, Alaska I flushed a bird I took to be this species Twice but did not get a shot at it. Aug 4 Mary and I saw the trap line and as we flushed a Ptarmigan while doing so, we decided to beat the remaining willow area. As we did so a juvenile bird flew up which I shot. Another was flushed later but I missed it. Aug 5 A juvenile was taken in the trap line 50 yds to the west of the first bird was taken. They flush, fly to a bush and look around, then drop. making hunting difficult. Aug 7 I shot one in the drainage ditch upon the hill at least 100 yds from the willows along a small stream. It was the only time that I saw it away from dense willows. It is strange that no adult birds were seen during the future trips.
