Emomphila algestris
6 July Pitmeza River 16 miles SE Cape Sabine Alaska
Collected a young bird of species
Sharent the slightest idea of an
identification. It was seen along
a rocky ridge at the top of a fair
sized mountain 5-7 miles up the
northfork of the Pitmeza River. It
was associated with Longspurs but
is larger. It may be a varied Wheatear
as it wagged its tail and has outer tail feather,
but there was no indication of the white cap
patch.
13 July
On a farther ridge of the same mountain
found another of these juvenile birds and
Collected an adult Horned Lark feeding
young.
