AK Pearson 1969 within [illegible] miles [illegible] of Lima . Below Chacana we passed above the coastal fog and came to bright sunlight. About 13,500 ft we took a minor road off the main highway and found a campsite. Ray set a long trapline but since I was having faintness problems I put out a short line relatively close to our tent -- 13 snap traps at 2 Shennans . The traps run along the bottom of a talus slope at the among big boulders scattered among rocks. July 8, 1969 Last of my 15 traps was spring and empty. [illegible] moths? The other trappers had better luck however, so we have precious mice to inject a squash chew-moves or etc. It was a bitter cold night to us -- maybe largely the metabolic effects of the altitude. The thermometer says -4 C. This AM I set Shennans (16 g lter) in the same rocks and boulders as last night's line, although different sets. They are close enough by camp that we can check them and also watch over them as wandering people go by. The mice traps & Traps go 24 hours, it seems. The mouse trap went downstream this morning, upstream this afternoon. Checking traps at noon -- nothing, and at 5 PM -- nothing. So I took up 9 g lter to give to one of the other Trappers for the night.
