calling close to nest. Red bird stood up, looked, + sat down again. As own disappeared from the nest he came further into the nest and pulled the feathers up around him. At 8:20 one pip. 7:45 some piping, I started very close to nest, perhaps from nest. Very rapid - every 4 seconds for a while. Either that piper moved or another started in, but the piping moved away down the gulley. Piping stopped about 8:30. Bird on nest did some preening and looking. Occasionally would stand up and look under him. On one such occasion I could clearly see a young. At 10:20 one young climbed out on the edge of the nest and tumbled out of the north side. Soon others followed until all 5 were out at 10:30. Red bird sat on nest until 10:50. The young started feeding as soon as they were off the nest, also semi-exploring about the nest, but they stayed within 2 ft. of the nest. At 10:50 red bird
