Palmer 1937 Itinerary Jan. 9 3 mi. SSW Temecula, 1025 ft., Riverside Co. cont'd. This A.M. left Rainbow about 8 and drove to this locality. In 17 Macabee gopher traps here caught 10 Thomomys bottae. In 45 gor.- size mouse traps caught last night the following species: Reithrodontomya megalotis, 5 (2♂, 2♀, 1 ?). Peromyscus maniculatus, 7 (4♂, 3♀); Dipodomys agilis, 4 (3♂, 1♀). But caught no D. merriami for which I was specially trapping. Ontario, 1100 ft., San Bernardino Co., Calif. Drove from Temecula to Ontario via Murrietta, Elsinore, Alberhill and Corona arriving shortly before noon. Jan. 10 1100 ft., 1158 Columbia Ave., Ontario, San Bernardino Co., Calif. This A.M. picked up a dead Pylocisla guttata under a lemon tree in our back yard. It is probable that the bird either froze (temperature as low as 22 degrees recorded last night) or that the heavy smudge, from orange orchard heating may have contributed in some way.
