slide where we heard a cony. Near: 3 mi. N Summit Goose Nest Mt., 4200 ft., Siskiyou Co., Calif.
I shot a Cony (jun.) in the rock slide and a Entamias senex as it was climbing a stump. Trees around this place were: Pinus ponderosa, Pseudotsuga taxifolia, Libocedrus decurrens, Pinus lambertiana and Abies concolor. Between the trees in some places were clumps of Manganita and Ceanothus, from 3-6 ft. high.
Birds were rather scarce here, possibly due to extensive logging operations. Saw: Red-breasted Nuthatch, Steller Jay, Calif. Jay?, Hairy Woodpecker, Chickadee (sp?) and some kind of Flycatcher.
On the way back to camp shot a Citellus douglasii at the bridge where the road crosses Little Shasta River. This locality designated as Little Shasta R., 3600 ft., 3½ mi NW Summit Goose Nest Mtn, Siskiyou Co., Calif.
Returned to camp and then went over the hill to Martin's Meadow & of Table Rocks and looked in the Woodchuck traps. Found a young Marmot in the same trap that caught one yesterday. One other trap was sprung. On the way back to camp saw several Citellus douglasii.
