Palmer 1935 Itinerary May 21 cont'd. Little Shasta River, 3000 ft. The "ant" and failed to get it. Saw a number of Woodrat nests along the creek bottom and saw several mole mounds in a damp meadow. Found a Gopher snake in The tent when I returned. In the P.M. hunted along The banks of the stream and found a large Bufo and caught a small Rana of which I have seen several. S. Base Table Rock, 3400 ft., 10 mi. E Montague, Siskiyou Co., Calif. Johnson looked at my steel sets for Marmot and found one young one in a trap in a runway. The traps near burrow mouths had not been disturbed. May 22 Little Shasta River, 3000 ft., 10 mi. E Montague, Siskiyou Co., Calif. Got up early and drove with Johnson up the road that goes to Butte Valley following along Little Shasta River on the N slope of Goose Nest Mt. About 6 mi. by road, E of camp star and shot at a Chickaree (Sciurus douglasii) as it was climbing up a Douglas Fir. Stopped at a rock slide where we hoped to get Coyes but none were heard or seen. After about 45 min. moved down to another rock
