Palmer 1935 may 13 cont'd. Itinerary Birds seen at the Mills' Ranch included two species not previously recorded for this trip: Cedar Waxwings, a flock in the fruit trees around the house and Willow Goldfinch, several flocks in the fields. Returned here about 4 P.M. and found one Thomomys bottae in the 2 sets. Cartera Creek, 2900 ft., 1/2 mi. SW Edgewood, Siskiyou Co., Calif. In the evening went E of camp on the low hill and set 46 gov.-size mouse traps. Part of these were set along an old rail fence in Gnaricus garyana. Part were set along the hilltop in low annual grass and Artemisia tridentata. Part were set in runways in annual grasses under bushes of Ceanothus cuneatus. Also set 2 rat traps near a woodrat nest in Ceanothus and made two gopher sets on top of the hill May 14. Caught mammals of the following species: Peromyscus maniculatus, 14; P. truei, 6; Reithrodontomys megalotis, 1; Microtus californicus, 2; Sylvilagus nuttalli, 1 (very young) in 46 gov.-size mouse traps.
