Palmer 1936 Itinerary Laguna Ranch, San Benito Co., (cont'd) July 21 contd. above the water tank. July 22 This A.M. sat for about an hour by the spring just back of the cabin. Then I shot 4 Juncos all juns. and 1 Black-headed Grosbeak. Also shot 1 Thrasher in the scrub oak near camp. Johnson brought in 3 Calif Thrashers this A.M. That had been caught in rat traps. All seemed to have been caught this morning. In the evening, he brought in 2 more Thrashers that had been caught in rat traps during the day. July 23 This A.M. sat by the water tank E of camp from 7-9 and shot the following birds: Plain Titmouse, 3; Chipping Sparrow, 2; Black Phoebe, 1; Green-backed Goldfinch, 1; Junco, 1. Also shot 1 White-breasted Nuthatch and 1 Flicker in large Valley Oaks and 1 Linnnet in a small Digger Pine. July 24 From about 7:15-9:30 sat by the water tank where I hunted yesterday- Shot the following birds: Pipilo fuscus, 2; Lack Sparrow, 1; Bell Sparrow, 3; White-breasted Nuthatch, 1; Plain Titmouse, 1.
