Then I shot 4 Juncos all juns. and 1 Black-headed Grosbeak. Also shot 1 Thrasher in the scrub oak near camp. Johnson brought in 3 Calif Thrashers this A.M. That had been caught in rat traps. All seemed to have been caught this morning. In the evening, he brought in 2 more Thrashers that had been caught in rat traps during the day. July 23 This A.M. sat by the water tank E of camp from 7-9 and shot the following birds: Plain Titmouse, 3; Chipping Sparrow, 2; Black Phoebe, 1; Green-backed Goldfinch, 1; Junco, 1. Also shot 1 White-breasted Nuthatch and 1 Flicker in large Valley Oaks and 1 Linnnet in a small Digger Pine. July 24 From about 7:15-9:30 sat by the water tank where I hunted yesterday- Shot the following birds: Pipilo fuscus, 2; Lack Sparrow, 1; Bell Sparrow, 3; White-breasted Nuthatch, 1; Plain Titmouse, 1. Noted that the Brown Towhees always approach the waters on the ground, top
