Itinerary
Laguna Ranch, 4000 ft., 7 mi. S Hernandez, San Benito Co.,
Calif.
July 15 Broke camp on Panocha Creek about 1 P.M. July
13 and drove via Panocha, Llanada, Paicines and
Tres Pinos to Hollister where we stocked up on
groceries etc. Left Hollister about 5 P.M. and drove
via Tres Pinos, Paicines, San Benito, Bear Valley
to a point where the Laguna Ranch road joins
the Hernandez road. There camped for the night.
A little after sundown, heard Screech Owls in the
oaks near camp. We went out with the flashlight
and Johnson & I each shot a Screech Owl. Johnson's

same large valley oak and were probably part
of a family. We heard 2 others in the vicinity but
couldn't locate them. This locality designated as:

since we have heard so much about the terrible
roads to the ranch. Drove up the road to the
Laguna Ranch. Found that Mr. Eade had
