July 11 cont'd. Hunted from 4:30 - 6 PM down the creek.
Shot 1 Rough-winged Swallow as it flitted about over the creek. Shot 1 Black Phoebe as it perched on a boulder at the edge of the water. Shot 1 Anna Hummer as it was feeding at the flowers of a herbaceous. Shot 1 Sparrow Hawk as it perched in the top of a dead cottonwood.
July 12. Last night, Dr. Linsdale brought in a Screech Owl he had shot. Hunted for several hours but didn't get any shots at Screech Owls altho I heard several.
This A.M. Dr. Linsdale brought in a Barn Owl and a Cassin's Finch, and Dr. Grinnell brought in a Horned Ocelot.
In the evening, hunted Screech Owls with Linsdale. He squeaked up one but didn't get it. Heard several others.
July 13. Dr. Grinnell brought in a Swainson's Hawk this A.M. It may have been the bird I had thought was a young Red-tailed Hawk, however, Dr. Grinnell says there are young Red-tails here.
