Panoche Cr., 1700 ft., 2 mi. SW Panoche (cont'd)
July 8 At 5 A.M. found visited traps at: Panoche Cr.,
1000 ft., 4 mi. E Panoche, San Benito Co, Calif.
In 28 mus. spec. mouse traps in tule rushes
caught mammals of the following species:
Sorex ornatus, 1 (Baldy eaten, nose up); Microtus calif-
oronicus, 2 (1?, 1?); Peromyscus maniculatus, 10
(5 ?, 4?, 1?); Reithrodontomy's megalotis, 1 (?);
Mus musculus, 2 (1?, 1?). In 13 traps on sandy
second bottom caught 1 Dipodomys leermanni
?. Look up the 13 traps on second bottom &
added them to end of line in tules.
Visited traps in evening and found that traps
had caught during the day: Microtus californicus,
2 (?+?); Mus musculus, 1?.
July 9 In 41 mus. spec. mouse traps caught during the
night: Microtus californicus, 1 ?; Reithrodontomy's
megalotis, 1 ?; Peromyscus maniculatus, 12
(6 ?, 5?, 1?); Mus musculus, 3 (?; ?, ?).
About noon, Drs. Ginnell and Lindsay
arrived from Berkeley to spend a few days
with us.
Left camp about 2 PM. to hunt down the
creek to the trapline 4 mi. E Panoche. Near
camp shot 2 Cassin's Kingbirds and saw 1
other. All were perched in small trees on the
bank of the creek. Also shot near here,
