June 26. The 70 mouse traps caught 18 mammals
of the following species: Dipodomys hermanni,
8 (7♀, 1♂); Perognathus californicus, 1 (♂);
Neotoma lepida(♀); Onychomys torridus, 1
(♀); Peromyscus maniculatus, 7 (4♀, 3♂).
In the evening set a line of 75 gopher-sized
mouse traps in a line running up a
ridge N E of camp in the same type of
country as trapped the night before.
June 27 At 5 AM., 75 museum/special mouse
traps held, The following mammals:
a total of 24 of
Dipodomys hermanni, 15 (9♀, 6♂);
Perognathus californicus 4 (2♂, 1♀, 1?);
Onychomys torridus, 1 ♂; Peromyscus
maniculatus, 4 (3♂, 1♀). Shot a Say Phoebe
from a bush on an open hillside.
In the afternoon, at camp, shot a
young Canyon Wren as it was clinging
to the wall inside an old adobe house.
Set no traps in the evening, as we are breaking
camp tomorrow.
June 28 Spent the morning packing birds to ship
to MV3.
