Itinerary
June 15
Loni S New India, 3700 ft., cont'd.
cont'd. Brown Jotter in the Digger Pines. Tried
to get a canyon when which was seen
on the rocky cliff of the canyon side but
failed. There I also saw Red-tailed Hawk
(apparently nesting on the cliff), Cliff
Swallows, Linnets. Found a broken skull
of a Gray Fox at the foot of the cliff. In the
trees around the flat also saw Calif Jays
and Mourning Doves.
Set a line of 28 gor size mousetraps
running through the Chrysotamnus and
dry grass. Most of the traps were set on
hard bare ground under the Chrysotamm
nus bushes. About 8 were set in the
grassy flat.
In the evening, on the way back, shot a
Borwill in the road just below the
reservoir.
June 16
Johnson examined my traps this A.M.
1936
+ found mammals of the following species
13 Peromyscus maniculatus (8♂, 4♀, 1?)
2 Dipodomys lemmanni (1ad♂, 1f♀)
1 Reithrodontomys m. longicaudus ♀.
In the afternoon shot 1 Hairy Woodpecker
from a Coulter Pine near camp. Hunted
for Black-chinned Sparrows in the
