June 7 Butts Ranch, San Benito Co. (Cont'd.)
Cont'd. at the edge of the grainfield. Also perched
in dead Valley Oaks. A few along the creek.
25 Yellow-billed Magpie - Key common.
Seen and heard at all times. Commonly
in willows along stream where indications are
they nest. Also in grainfields and valley
oaks, and less commonly in Blue-Oak-
some
Digger Pine. Young 3/4 grown but still
being fed by parents.
26 California Jay - Common in chaparral,
Live Oak, Blue-oak-Digger Pine and
Coastwood associations.
27 Western Crow - Only a very few seen
flying over.
28 Clark's Nutcracker - Mr. Butts decided
a bird that wintered here last winter
from his description, I saw it is this
species.
29 Plain Titmouse - Very common
everywhere in chaparral and trees but
most common in Blue-Oak-Digger Pine
association
30 Bushtit - Common in the chaparral
in flocks.
31 Slender-billed Muthatch - Common about
trees - Blue Oak-Digger Pine, Valley Oak!
