Palmer 1936 January Butte Ranch, 3000 ft, San Benito Co. (Contd) May 25 of the oaks as Western Wood Peecer (?) Then I heard California Thrasher, when Jit, Burick Wren, Busk Jit and Calif. Guail. Then hunted on down thru the oaks and up a small caƱon running upward forward the west. Then in dense Live Oak, Digger Pine and Wild Cherry, I shot a Spotted Towhee. There also saw Yellow (?) Warbler, Brown Towhee, California Jay and California Woodpecker. Came back thru the grain field in level canyon bottom where I saw many Brewer's Blackbirds and Lark Sparrows (Johnson shot one of these) and along the creek in willows saw several Bullock's Orioles, House Finches, Lawrence Goldfinches and Lazuli Buntings. Around The Barns & House saw several Western Kingbirds, I Say Phoebe?, many Green Backed Goldfinch (mainly in 1 large flock) and many House Finches. Saw several Red Tailed Hawks flying over and 2 or 3 Turkey Buzzards. Also saw a Cooper Hawk flying around over the chaparral. Also heard Crows during the day
