Itinerary
/mid/ Summit Mt Diable, 3000 ft. (cont'd.)
Tuei, 1♂, 1♀; Peromyscus maniculatus,
5♂, 4♀; Reithrodontys m. longicaudus,
1♂, 1♀. In the rat trap caught 1 ♀
Peromyscus californicus.
We had hoped to get Dipodomys
here, but apparently the weather conditions
are rather poor for them. Altho we
saw numbers of burrows, the only ones
taken were 2 caught by Johnson on the
tilltop just n of my trapline.
On the way back to Berkeley, saw
2 deer and several ground squirrels
below the 2800 ft level.
The only birds seen around the trap-
line were Horned Larks which flew
about in the fog. Further down the
mountain saw California Jays,
Western Bluebirds, Juncos and
a Red-tailed Hawk. Near the base
of the mountain were many
Lark Sparrows, Flickers and
several Sparrow Hawks.
