Palmer 1935 Itinerary Angel Island (Cont'd.) Oct. 19. At 6 A.M. found 6 gopher traps in mole runways sprung, but caught no mole. In 23 gov.-size mouse traps caught 12 Microtus californicus. In one trap caught 2 Microtus!! It is rather clear today, slightly more lazy than yesterday and fairly warm. About 4 P.M. set 45 gov. size mouse traps near Blunt Point at the S.E. corner of the island. Traps were set about 10 steps apart in grass, wild blackberry, Baccharis, Artemisia and bush lupine. The vegetation is low and matted. Most of the traps were set in runways of Microtus which are very numerous here. Set 3 more macabre gopher traps for moles in deep runways at the same place traps were set last night about halfway between the Hospital and the stables. Reset the other six macabre traps there which had been sprung during the day. Also set 1 "spike trap" on a surface runway here. I
