Palmer 1935 Itinerary Angel Island (cont'd.) Oct.17 contd. There are a few clumps of Eucalyptus trees near the S.E. and S.W. ends of the island. However, most of the island is apparently little altered by man. Most of the buildings are close to the Bay and in a narrow fringe around the East and N. side. Probably, very little hunting is done except for Hawks and Crows. There apparently is very little grazing done, and that all by horses or mules. Left on the 4:30 boat for Berkeley to get traps and supplies. Angel Island, San Francisco Bay, Marin Co., Calif. Oct.18 Left Berkeley at 10:30 AM and arrived at Angel Island at 1:50 Most of the afternoon was spent in getting settled. At 6 PM went out and set 6 Macabee footholds traps in deep mole runways. Also set 23 gopher-size mouse traps in a line up the hill between the Hospital and the stables, traps set about 15 steps apart in dry grass under live oaks.
