Itinerary
Angel Island, San Francisco Bay, Calif.
Oct. 17, 1935
Left Berkeley 8 A.M. for a preliminary survey of Angel Island. Arrived on Steamer [illegible] General Frank M. Cox at 10:35. Went up to Headquarters and reported to Major J.E. Slack. I was very cordially received and also met the Commanding Officer, who reports that they are having trouble with rats and would like any advice I could give on their control. He would also like some advice on their gardens.
I was then sent to the Hospital where I met Sgt. [illegible], temporarily in charge, and was given accommodations for meals and bed.
At 11:05 A.M., left Hospital and walked N. along the E. side of the island about 1/4 mi. to the Immigration Station. I followed the paved road along a moderately steep hillside. The vegetation cover looks much like the S. side of Strawberry Canyon with scattered Live Oaks and California Bay Trees and a few madrone trees.
