July 23 contd.
8 mi. E Crescent City cont'd,
along the road. Hear scent by logs of Douglas Fir (?) in mixed Tan Oak and Douglas Fir at the edge of the Redwoods. Shot a Chickaree hen in a large Douglas Fir.
Johnson came in tonight with several birds he had shot: 3 Juncos, 3 White-crowned Sparrows and 1 Spotted Towhee.
These Taken at Bald Hill, 9 mi. E Crescent City, Del Norte Co., Calif.
July 24 In 50 gov. size mousetraps caught 1 Peromyscus maniculatus. Took in traps and prepared & leave for Berkeley.
July 25 Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif.
Broke camp 8 mi. E Crescent City about 4 P.M. July 24 and drove to Crescent City and thence 5 & about Trinidad where we camped for the night. Left there 6 A.M. today and drove via U.S. highway #101 via Eureka, Willits, Santa Rosa and Richmond Auto Ferry & Berkeley where we arrived about 4 P.M..
