Palmer 1935 Itinerary Paket Flat, 5000 ft., (cont'd.) July 5 contd. run up the main stream all in tall sedges on the mud near the stream. July 6 In 68 gov.-size mouse traps in the meadow and along the stream, caught 3 Microtus mordan and 13 Peromyscus maniculatus. In 3 gopher sets caught 1 Thomomys monticola. Took in gopher traps. Johnson went down to Happy Camp today so I skinned 2 Aplodontias he caught this morning. In the evening set 2 rat traps for flying squirrels in the heavy timber near camp. July 7 In 68 traps in the meadow, caught 1 Sorex jaluastri, 5 Microtus mordan and 8 Peromyscus maniculatus. Went on downstream to the third culek and up that about ½ mi. looking for aplodontia burrows. Found 1 rather old burrow in alder, Acer glabrum and Cornus californicus at the head of this creek. Saw a Water Quetz by the stream and several Thrushes. Back at camp, shot a B Picoides arcticus from the same dead fir tree where I shot a ? a few days ago. In the afternoon, shot a Dryobates villossus, one of a pair from a Douglas Fir in mixed Red Fir, White Fir and Douglas Fir near camp.
