Palmer 1935 Itinerary Klamath R. 1000 ft., south of Clear Creek (cont'd.) June 26 cont'd. A rancher here told us that there were lots of moles but that he had never seen gophers here and he had lived here 9 yrs. Set 25 gor-size mouse traps on the N side of Clear Creek around the edge of a recently cut hay field in tall grass (Bromus?), Hypericum, and Vicia and scrubby Harry Oak and Madrone. Caught a Lampropeltis zonata at the edge of the field. Returned to camp and set 13 gor-size mouse traps in tangles of blackberries under willows, Douglas Fir and Madrone. Found surface workings of moles fairly common and set 2 mole traps. June 27 In 25 gor-size mouse traps around the edge of a cut hay field caught 1 Peromyscus truei. In 13 gor-size mouse traps in blackberry tangles near camp caught 1 Peromyscus truei Nothing in mole traps. Set 2 more mole traps out by camp. Examined mole traps about 2:45 P.M. and found 1 trap held a Scapanus latimanus. In the late afternoon went with Johnson down the road (E) about 1/2 mi. There stopped and went up a small creek on the W side of the river. There caught a Rana boylii and a Salamander. The general appearance of the surroundings there
