Clear Creek, 1400 ft., 3 mls W Klamath River camp. (contd.)
mouse traps caught nothing. In Four Mile Creek caught 3 salamanders and Rana. Birds seen around camp were Black-headed Grosbeak, Western Tanaga, Steller Jay, Warbling Vireo, Wood Pewee & some species of Hummingbird.
In the afternoon, Johnson & I walked up the road along the north bank of Clear Creek past Five Mile Creek a short distance and then crossed Clear Creek on a high swinging bridge. Clear Creek here is 30-35 ft. wide and quite deep. Left the trail and hauled down the S side of the creek through the brush to Slippery Creek. Went up Slippery Creek about 1/2 mile and spent about 2 hours during which we caught several salamanders. Slippery Creek is very much like Four Mile Creek in appearance, type of vegetation etc.
Went on down from Slippery Creek and found Clear Creek not far below camp.
