June 24 In 7 rat traps set around an old cabin
caught 2 Neotoma maculipes. The cabin is in
a grassy flat and is surrounded by large
Sarry Oaks, Madrone, Douglas Fir, Tan Oak and
Canyon Line Oak. 10 mouse traps in the grass
around The cabin caught nothing. Caught 1
Peromyscus maniculatus in 5 gor-size mouse
traps set in grass, Aralia californica and
sword fern (Polystichum lonchitis) under Alder,
Acer macrophyllum and Cornus nuttallii.
In 35 gor-size mouse traps along Four Mile
Creek caught 1 Neurotrichus gibbsii on a steep
mossy bank with a sparse growth of Boykinia
crata and Fine finger fern (Adiantum pedatum)
and overhung with Alder, Acer macrophyllum,
Cornus nuttallii, Lithocarpus densiflorus and
Quercus chrysolepis.
In The evening rebaited all 35 traps along Four
Mile Creek with bacon and put out 15 more traps in
that line. In the stream caught 2 salamanders
and one Rana while rebaiting traps.
June 25 In 7 rat traps set around The old cabin,
catched 1 jnr Neotoma maculipes. Shot a Crotalus
oregonus behind The cabin. Near camp shot
