Itinerary.
June 11 Beaner Cr., 1800 ft., 1/2 mi. N Klamath R, Siskiyou Co., Calif.
contd. Broke camp at Rd, Doggett Cr., about 1 P.M.
and drove down to the Klamath River Highway
via Oak Knoll. Then drove to Klamath River P.O.
for mail. There saw a Canyon Wren and heard
several singing. Drove back to the mouth of
Beaner Creek and up the creek about 1/2 mi. to the
above locality which is that of the Beaner Creek
Fish and Game Station where Mr. R.E. Leett is in
charge. He very kindly allowed us to use one of
his cabins and further obligated us by inviting
us to dinner.
Caught a Gerrhonotus at the base of a Larry
Oak about 4 P.M.
June 13 Dononow Meadow, 5800 ft., 15 mi. W Kilt, Siskiyou Co., Calif.
Left Mr. Jutt's at 6 A.M. June 12 and drove up
Beaner Creek to Cinnabar Then via the Bear
Grounds to the main ridge road which we
followed to Dononow Meadow. Total distance from
mouth of Beaner Creek = 17 mi. Spent most of
June 12 extricating the truck from a mudhole.
Made camp about 5 P.M. Set 25 gor.-size mouse
traps in alders along the grassy banks of a
small stream. This A.M. These traps held
2 jun. Clethronomys magana.
Birds seen Today are: Robin, Steller Jay, Junco,
Lincoln Sparrow, Cassin Purple Finch, Warbling Vio.
