Itinerary
June 1 cont'd. Hd. Doggett Cr., 5800 ft., Siskiyou Mts.
The boylii taken on a mossy streambank.
Saw the following birds: Junco, Robin,
Mountain Chickadee, Chipping Sparrow,
White-Headed Woodpecker (Digging nest cavity
in a post near camp). Heard: Purple Finch,
Steller Jay.
Saw several Eutamias amoena, most
of them on a rail fence near camp. Here
also saw a Sciurus douglasii run along
the top rail of the fence.
In the evening set 17 traps along the
stream in grassy spots beneath the alders.
Cought 3 Tylas while setting traps.
June 2 In 17 gun-size mouse traps caught: 1
) Microtus californicus (?), 6 Peromyscus manicul-
atus. Hunted birds from 8-10 A.M. Shot 2 Red-
breasted Nuthatches, 1 Lincoln Sparrow; 1 Wright
Flycatcher. Saw: Robin, Junco, Purple Finch (sp?),
Audubon Warbler, Mountain Chickadee,
Black-Headed Grosbeak.
In afternoon hunted birds from 4-5 in
conifers (Red fir, White fir, Incense Cedar).
Saw very few birds. Shot one California?
Purple Finch, 1 Eutamias Townsendii, 1 Eutania,
townsendii amoena. Saw several Callosperm
ophiles in an opening on the hillside
