Palmer 1935 January May 31 cont'd. Hd. Doggett Cr., 5800 ft., Siskiyou Mt., Siskiyou Co., Calif. Broke camp 2 mi. S Hornbrook at 10 A.M. and drove to Yreka where we stocked up on groceries. Then drove back along Shasta River to The Klamath River Highway and W along the Klamath R. to Oak Knoll where we left the highway and drove up the road to The Dry Lakes lookout. The road was blocked with snow so we got no farther than the above locality which is designated on some maps as Deer Camp. Camp was set up about 4 P.M. Saw 7 or 8 deer along the road coming up. Caught 7 Thylas in the wet meadow under boards and logs. Set 25 gov.-size mouse traps along the grassy banks of a small stream in Aldus (Alnus tenuifolia) and along a rail fence near Incense Cedar and White Fir. While setting traps saw many snow-plugs or fresh mounds of gophers. June 1. Was awakened this morning by a partly grown Porcupine which was slowly climbing a big Red Fir under which I was sleeping. In 25 gov.-size mouse traps caught 7 Peromyscus maniculatus, and 1 P. boylii. The maniculatus taken along the rail fence
