Palmer 1935 Itinerary May28 Klamath River, 2100 ft., 2 mi. S Hornbrook contd. but lost it in the tall grass. Later shot another one which I got. Both of these were in the willows. In P.M. set 35 mouse traps (gov. size) up the creek from camp. About 25 were set along the creek bank under willows at the edge of the tall grass. About 10 traps were set in an old gravel pit and sand pile in hopes of getting Dipodomys. About 8 P.M. saw a Bat flying around the willows near camp. It was rather large, possibly Eptesicus. May29 Light rain last night. In the 4 mole traps caught 1 Scapanus latimanus. In 35 gov. size mouse traps caught: 1 Dipodomys termanni, 1 Microtus californicus, 1 Peromyscus maniculatus, 5 Mus musculus, 1 Sylva. Shot a Bank Swallow which was flying over a large pool with 2 other Bank Swallows, 2 Barn Swallows, 3 Tree Swallows and 2 Cliff Swallows. Here saw a Kingfisher fly from a hole in the bank. Other birds seen were: Green Heron, Mourning Dove, Brown Towhee, Brewer Blackbird, Redwing Blackbird, Yellow-Throat, Yellow Warbler, Crow, Song Sparrow, Ashy-throated Flycatcher.
