Palmer 1935 Itinerary May 27 W.Tk Cottonwood Cr., 4000 ft. cor'dd. Typical transition zone. The hillsides are covered with a rather thick growth of Pinus ponderosa, Abies concolor, Libocedrus decurrens, and Pseudotsuga taxifolia. Between these trees is a rather dense growth of brush 6-10 ft. high mostly Manzanita, Chinquapin and Coughus(?). Returned to camp at Hombrook about noon. On the return trip got a gopher snake in the road at: W.Tk Cottonwood Cr., 3200 ft., 3 mi. SW Hillt, Siskiyou Co., Calif. May 28 Klamath River, 2100 ft., 2 mi. S Hombrook, Siskiyou Co., Calif. No moles in the traps but one trap was sprung. In A.M. hunted down Cottonwood Creek to the river in Willow and Cottonwoods. Shot a Song Sparrow and 2 Yellow-Throats. Saw The following birds: Yellow Warbler, Mourning Dove, Long-tailed Chat, Bank Swallow, Kingfisher, Horned Owl, Crow, Killdeer, Linnet, Green- backed Goldfinch, Lazuli Bunting, House Wren, Brewer's Blackbird, Redwing Blackbird, Killdeer. Saw Muskrat tracks in the mud along the creek. At camp shot a Black-capped Chickadee
