Palmer/1937 July 26 (cont.) the slopes leading up to the sides of the canyon are covered with Artemisia 1 to 1/2 ft. tall. The sides of the canyon have large rocky cliffs and rock-slides and are covered with Pinon and Mountain Mahogany on the N side and Aspen and Mountain Mahogany on the south side. The higher ridges E of camp are covered with Pinus flexilis Set 70 gor.-sized mouse traps NW from camp across the flat in Artemisia and up a slope in Artemisia and Piñon to a rock outcrop where I set 4 rat traps. The line then circled back thru Piñon and Artemisia to camp. July 27 Caught mammals of the following species: 15 Peromyscus maniculatus, 2 Perognathus parvus, and 3 Eutamias minimus in 70 mouse traps. No results on the rat traps. In the P.M. drove with Hall 1.7 mi. down canyon from camp to a point on Peterson Creek, 6500 ft., Shoshone Nts., Lander Co., Nev. Here set 9 rat traps and 34 gor.-sized mouse traps up a steep, rocky canyon wall in Artemisia and Piñon. July 28 Early in the A.M. went up the E fork of Peterson Creek with Hall, Johnson and
