Palmer 1934 July 25 Smitha Creek Ranch--In the Gopher traps set with W.C. Russell, caught 4 Thomomys quadratus. Smitha Creek, 6000 ft., Lander Co., Nev.- In 40 gpr.-sized mouse traps, caught mammals of the following species: 7 Peromyscus maniculatus and 1 Neotoma lepida Smitha Creek, 5800 ft., Lander Co., Nev. In the evening set 32 gpr.-sized mouse traps with bacon bait along the edge of the stream in grass, willows, and wild rose, and in a grassy bog in the hope of getting Sorex. July 26 Caught 8 Peromyscus maniculatus in 32 traps set along the edge of a stream and in a grassy bog. Broke camp about 8 A.M. and drove down Smitha Creek and across Smitha Creek Valley and a Dry Lake to Peterson Ranch where we turned up Petersen's Creek which we followed up to a point on Petersen Creek, 7000 ft., Shoshone Mts., Lander Co., Nev. Camp was established in a clump of quaking aspens near a spring. The canion here is quite broad with a small stream lined with Aspens and Willows. The flat and
