Palmer/934 July 23 (kmt) are covered with Artemisia, Sarcobatus, Chrysothamnus and Atriplex. Set 70 traps in a line running up the creek and then up the banks of an irrigation ditch which had grassy banks and was lined with willows and wild rose bushes. Several traps were set in a marshy spot and then the line swung back running parallel to the creek about 50 ft. out in Artemisia, Chrysothamnus, Sarcobatus & Atriplex. July 24 Caught mammals of the following species: 12 Peromyscus maniculatus, 3 Perognath- us parvus, 2 Microtus mordax, 1 Reithrodonto- mys megalotis in 70 traps. Drove up the canyon in the P.M. with W.C. Russell and 1 mi. above camp at Smiths Creek Ranch we made six sets for gophers. Then drove up canyon 2 mi. by road above Smiths Creek Ranch to a point on Smiths Creek, 6000 ft, Lander Co., Nev. Here set 40 Gov-sized mouse traps down along the creek, which here has a little water in it, in grassy places in willows, quaking aspen and wild rose. In the evening at camp, which was in an old stone house, caught a Myotis.
