Palmer 1934 July 18 (cont.) with J.S. Brode and we examined our traps. Returned to camp and set 42 gov.-sized mouse traps across sandy soil with some rocks and rather sparse growth of Artemisia, Ephedra, Chrysothamnus and Sarcobatus. Traps were 20-25 paces apart. July 19 Caught mammals of the following species: 3 Dipodomys merriami; 5 Perognathus l. panamintinus; 2 Peromyscus maniculatus and 1 Neotoma lepida. E. Walker R., 5100 ft., Morgan Ranch, Mineral Co., Nev. Caught two Thomomys bottae in the 4 gopher sets in an alfalfa field. July 20. E. Walker R., 5050 ft., 2 mi. N of Morgan Ranch, Mineral Co., Nev. Broke camp about 8:45 A.M. and drove with the party via Mason Valley, Yerington, Wabuska, Fort Churchill, Fallon, Westgate, Eastgate to a point on Campbell Creek, 6900 ft., Lander Co., Nev. which is on the E side of the Dosatoya mts. Here we made an overnight camp and I set 50 gov.-sized mouse traps in the bottom of a small canyon in Artemisia and some salt-grass. July 21. Caught 8 Peromyscus maniculatus in 50 traps in Artemisia. Broke camp about 7 A.M. and the party
