Caught one Microtus montanus in the 50 traps in the stream. Caught two Neotoma cinerea in the rat traps set in the rock slide also 1 Peromyscus maniculatus
Broke camp 9 A.M. and the party drove over Wheeler Pass and camped at 12 M on the East Walker River in a grove of Cottonwoods which forms a strip on either side of the river. On either side of this strip the valley floor is dry and rocky with the broader part to the west and rocky hills not far to the east of the river. This place is designated as:
C. Walker R., 5250 ft, 2 mi. NW Morgans Ranch, Mineral Co., Nev.
In the evening set 20 gov.-sized mouse traps across an old alfalfa field on the E side of the river. Also made one set for gophers near camp.
July 18
Caught mammals of the following species in the 20 mouse traps: 2 Peromyscus manicul- atus, 1 Reithrodontomys m. megalotis. In the gopher traps caught one Thomomys bottae About 8:30 A.M. drove SE to Morgans Ranch with J.S. Broder. Here I made 4 sets for gophers in an alfalfa field At 5:30 drove SE to Morgans Ranch again
