July 15 Cottonwood Creek, 7400 ft., Mt. Grant, Mineral Co., Nev.
In the Quaking Aspens and Willows along the stream shot birds of the following kinds: 3 Fox Sparrows, 1 Gun-tailed Towhee, 1 Steller Jay, 1 Audubon Warbler, 1 Hammond Flycatcher.
In the evening set 45 Gov.-sized mouse traps along Cottonwood Creek which is about 1-2½ ft. across. Along the banks were Quaking Aspens and Willows and where these stopped were Artemisia, Wild Rose and grass. The traps were set mainly at the bottoms of small falls in the stream in the hope of getting Sorex palustris. Also set 2 rat traps in a rocky outcrop.
July 16. Caught one Sorex palustris navigator and 9 Bufo in the #5 traps along the stream. Caught one Calospermophilus lateralis in the 2 rat traps set in the rocks. Left the traps in the stream during the day and set 5 more traps.
Visited the traps in the stream at noon and had caught 2 Bufo.
Left the 50 traps in the stream over-night. Also set 14 rat traps in a rock
