Palmer 1934 banks covered with grass and young Cottonwoods. To the East and West of the large Cottonwood trees stretched level sandy country with a moderately sparse growth of Artemisia, Atriplex, Chrysopha-mus, Sarcobatus and Chenopodiums. This cover averaged 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 ft. in height. Broke camp and drove north to Schurz then drove S along the shore of Walker Lake. Turned west at the mouth of Cottonwood creek and drove up Cottonwood Canyon to an altitude of 6000 ft. where I collected one specimen of Crotophytum collaris in the rocks. Drove on up Cottonwood Creek toward Mt. Grant and camped about 4 o'clock at a place designated as: Lapon Canyon 8900 ft., Mt. Grant, Mineral Co., Nev. In the evening I set 75 Govt sized mouse traps across the top of a low hill with a rather thick cover of Artemisia 1 to 2 1/2 ft. tall. The soil was rather coarse sand and appeared to be decomposed granite. A few traps were set in outcrops of rather large granite boulders with Mountain Mahogany and some Artemisia
