July 4 cont. Hawks, Meadowlarks, Red-winged Blackbirds, Western Robins. In willows along the stream saw a yellow Warbler and another warbler with yellow belly and greenish back. Some species of gull with yellow bill, white belly, gray back and black wing tips flew west, upstream. A Belted Kingfisher flew downstream and lit on a branch over the water.
July 5 Drove 1/2 mi. NE to the same place where I collected birds on July 3 and 4. Went with W. Russell and E. R. Edge. Here I shot one ♂ Red-winged Blackbird in a small tile marsh. In this same place I observed 3 Yellowthroats and several Song Sparrows. Near the stream I collected one ♂ Cliff Swallow. In the Cottonwood tree I collected two Downy Woodpeckers and one Yellow Warbler. What appeared to be a Black-Crowned Night Heron flew rather high overhead in the direction of the stream. Set 5 gopher traps in runways at camp.
July 6 Drove 1/2 mi. NE camp with W. C. Russell and E. R. Edge and here shot a Bewick Wren. The bird was perched
