Palmer 1934 July 3 (cont.) Blackbirds and Western Meadowlarks. Near a haystack saw two Quail on the ground. Stopped near the river and hunted thru a grove of Cottonwoods these were on a moist flat covered with grass and melilotus. In the Cotton- woods shot a Sparrow-Hawk, Flicker, and a Kingbird. In Buffalo-brush on the edge of the Cottonwoods shot a Spotted Towhee. Also saw here Killdeer, Robins, Yellow Warblers and Ward Russel shot two Downy Woodpeckers. This place designated as: 10 1/2 mi. S Yerington, 4500 ft., W. Walker R., Lyon Co., Nev. Flow Camp July 4 Drove 1 1/2 mi. N.E. with E.R. Hall and hunted birds with David Johnson. Hunted first across a marshy field covered with salt-grass and reeds. New 2 shot 1 Redwinged Blackbird, 1 Killdeer, 1 Savannah Sparrow, 1 Mead- owlark also saw here Quail, Cliff Swallows, Brewer Blackbirds and Magpies. Then hunted thru a grove of Cottonwood trees with grassy ground cover along by West Walker River. Hus shot 7 Brewer Blackbirds and saw: Arkansas Kingbird, Sparrow
