Latter 2 species were taken in the grass-
on the west side of the peak, with the
exception of one Reithrodontomys taken
rather far down the hillside in
mixed Artemisia and Baccharis
Mar.23 Left Berkeley at 11 AM with A.R Palmer
and E.H Bailey and drove via U.S
Highway 99 thru Tracy, Modesto, Fresno,
Strathmore, Bakersfield to Pasadena
where turned S on U.S Highway 66 and
drove to my home at 1158 Columbia Ave,
Ontario, San Bernardino Co, Calif. at 4:30
AM. Mar.24.
Mar.24 In P.M. drove N to Upland and then
NE to Red Hill. At a point designated
as: Red Hill, 1350 ft., 2 mi. NE Upland,
San Bernardino, Calif., set 10 gopher
traps in 5 sets in an uncultivated
field of black peaty soil thickly over-
grown with black mustard, barley,
clover, and alfilaria (Erodium).

Caught 5 gophers in 5 sets. Two were
taken in one set and one set was un-
touched, so was left out. Shot one
young brush-rabbit on the W side of
