Cottonwood Spgs, 1 mi W Old Woman Spgs, San Bernardino Co., Calif.
Dec.29 Caught 4 in 90 govt-size mouse traps set across fine, deep sand with scattered bushes 4-5 ft. high of Corillean and a leguminous spiny shrub with yellow flowers and a repulsive odor.
Leaves of the latter were found in the cheek pouches of one specimen but unfortunately specimens of the plant were lost. Many large footprints and tail-tracks of Kangaroo Rats apparently of this species were seen. Many of the traps were sprung, but contained no specimens and as all the ones taken were caught in mouse traps it is probable that this form is much more common than the trapping record indicates.
